SUN

You don't know how much you miss something until it's gone right?
Well....I miss my hot summers.  Alaska has been great and is definitely not cold, but warm just doesn't suffice when hot is an option and what you've known your whole life.

SUN,

I love you even though I may not be able to feel your warmth up here in Alaska.
Just thought you should know!

Love you all!

Kim here in Alaska!!

Kimbie came to see us in Alaska this past week and it was sooo fun!!
Unfortunately I couldn't take work off except for one day but we still made the best of it!
We went to the supposed "World's largest chocolate-fall"

 Kim loved the ginormous bear!

We went downtown for some touristy shoppin the first evening after she got here and found a really cute wind chime for her mama.  She's the best child and always gets her mom her collector's item when she travels ;).  Speaking of which, what do you want from Alaska Mom??

We went on a hike with the Petersons and Hills on Sunday to "Flattop Mountain" which was a great view.  Unfortunately is was pretty cloudy so we couldn't see anything from the very top but it was still an awesome hike!

Our favorite day of her vacation was definitely her last day here, Tuesday.  We started it off by going to see the Anchorage LDS Temple on our way out of town.
It is actually a lot smaller than it looks!

We then went along the scenic Seward Highway coastline to show Kim the conservation center.
It was a hit if you can't tell by this face right here....

I told Kim and Skyler we were going to see bears and this was our first look at any sight of bears...
(He's the little brown dot next to the cabin if you can't tell ha.)

And then another bear came out of hiding to save the day!

She even stopped right in front of us to say hello! So cool!

There were also baby orphaned moose that were adorable.

And a porcupine! It surprisingly REEKED!!! hahaha

We had a blast at the conservation center and I was so glad to have my hubby there to enjoy the day with us as well!

There was SITKA jelly in the gift shop! From The Proposal! It really exists! haha

We then spontaneously hiked to a glacier! So fun!
We were on snow that was actually on top of a flowing river! Pretty nuts right? That's Alaska for ya.

Sky had fun throwin rocks in the river and at the frozen snow above it...

And so did Kim!

The two of them have formed a new friendship after spending so much time together throwing rocks and competing with each other in card games. We stayed up til 2 am one night just playing cards! It was too much fun!! Thanks for coming to see us in good ol' Alaska Kimbie!! You DEFINITELY made our week!! Love you and love you all at home!!

"Neither Can Live While The Other Survives"

I hate Voldemort's face...isn't it just so ugly?
(just a side note)

But then there are the heros of the show...
The ones who made it all. The TRIO.
They are the ones who made me feel as if I was one of them at times, fighting for the good in the world and who made me fall in love with the world of magic.

I absolutely adored these books and movies...

Loved the excitement of it all.
The magic.

Stood in lines for hours waiting for the show to begin.

Even dressed up a little to show my Potter Pride...

Harry Potter Marathons were a must...they may still be.

Sometimes there may have even been a little push

to show my boyfriend-fiance-and now husband what Harry Potter was and is all about.
Someday he'll have read all the books, mark my word (SHHHhhh! ;) )

And he'll LOVE them as much as he loved our first picture taken together!

I just hope it won't take this long...

;)

Harry Potter, thank you for being such a large and wonderful part of my childhood and life.  Thanks for helping my imagination and outlook on life soar (like while flying on a broomstick!! ;) )

Just a little sparatic post for ya today, hope you enjoy anyways!
Love you all!

PEANUT BUTTER

I'm sure you are wondering why I am blogging about peanut butter...
I have many other things I could be updating you about in our lives right now but I couldn't resist.

So the story starts with peanut butter,
Lovely (and delicious) Adam's natural peanut butter

If you know Adams peanut butter or most natural peanut butters you know that you must mix in the peanut oil that is sitting on top.  The truth is actually that the oil is good for you to get your healthy oils so you shouldn't pour it out...just an fyi ;)

Well, I was trying to stir that in without spilling out all the oil.
Skyler came over to help me...
and suggested a new technique.

So, what do you get when you mix a jar of peanut butter and...

 a hand mixer??

....
....
....
....
....

A little bit of a mess.

It went everywhere!
All over the counter, lamp, picture frame, floor, our shorts....we couldn't move
without stepping in it.

Classic!

But, it was quite the laugh.
A washcloth's many wipes and 409 later our mess was finally gone.

Life isn't worth living without a few laughs!
Love you all!

JULY.....Wha??

I cannot believe it is already July. Can't believe it.

Thanks for coming to the new blog! I have been working on all the kinks so I haven't had much of a chance to actually blog, but I have great things to come! New job, bear stories (not mine luckily), and two words peanut butter....

Well if that doesn't have you hooked I don't know what would! ;)

Soon to come, more posts!

June 2011- Lil' Alaskan Update

I have had a fun time having our own place for once especially after living in hotels for literally, a month. We were on the cruise for five days, moved into the American Fork hotel for a couple weeks, then the hotels along the road from Utah, through Canada, to Alaska, the hotel we lived in for the first week we were in Alaska because our apartment wasn't ready yet, and now we are done with that!! Vivint supplied the furniture and I have to say, I love it!
This is our cute apartment! First apartment as a married couple!

Our kitchen : )

So a couple weeks ago my goofy husband so sweetly said, "You CAN cook!!" with a gigantic smile on his face and a hug hahahaha. I keep telling him that while we were dating I didn't cook because I didn't want to in my apartment I lived in...a little messy! It wasn't that I couldn't but that I just didn't! I've been making dinner every night but that was the first recipe made meal that actually took some work. He loved it, and so did I!! It was a delicious meal (minus the salmon, I didn't touch it) and I recommend the recipe by far!

The pasta included a "guiltless homemade alfredo" or so the recipe says, bacon, chopped chicken, artichoke hearts, green onions, cheese, and more cheese. So yummy!!

I gotta say that with livin in Alaska the weirdest part is the sun! It really doesn't set until close to 11 or 12 pm. This is the night sky at 12:45 about a week ago.

Supposedly the farther we get into the summer the more drastic it will get. The sky is light at 4:30 AM...I promise! It's woken me up multiple times since getting here! haha. It isn't annoying (except for the first night with very little sleep) it's just weird!

Pictures to go along!

Sorry, I am new to blogging with pictures since I couldn't in China and I'm still learning the tricks! Here are the pictures from the last blog post!

This is a tribute to my pregnant sisters and friend, Sandy! I love you guys and am so excited for your soon to come babies and lil baby boy that was just born a few days ago!! I'm a little baby clothes crazy right now because of all of you, you're to blame!! : )

This is the cute tutu I found whilst shopping, the "some cute stuff" from the last post...

One of the shops we went into had this sign which I thought was hilarious!

The "not so cute but fun stuff we found shopping!"

Gorgeous drive just south of Anchorage!

Bear literally 5 feet away! So cool! Especially with the fence in between ;)

Wrestling bears, so cute!

A couple of the kids who could care less about the bears haha.

The bald eagle with only one wing...

The moose we petted!
